Type I has a diffenent hood, when you bought a 6cilinder, you got a 'bulb' on the hood.
Nowadays, these hoods are very rare.

type one = 1972 to 1977
type two = 1977 till 1981
Got the type one hoods/bonnets on stock for the type one with M30 engine also with the small engine..

Right. Left is type 1 but 6-cyl hood. Right is type 2 all engines.
Since my E12 was originally a 520 4-cyl the hood was almost like the left one, but without the 'bulb'.
There were more differences between type 1 and 2. Tail lights were bigger, position of fuel filler was moved from the rear to the side etc ...

Yeah, rearlights and filler cap, I know, but I didnt see the difference on the front, but now I see. The bonnet is different. tnx!

Bonnet, Kidney's front grill, front bumper. indicator lights are all different not only the bonnet
