bmw e21 alpina b6

Post by euroimportchile »

Hello, good morning, I introduce myself as Felipe Lagos de Chile, I have a BMW E21 Alpine B6 Engine 2.8 that came to my hands and I would like to know a little technical information.

This car came to my hands with two cylinders failing and we realized that I had adapted, I have not found information about engine parts and I want to rebuild.

Someone has information about the type of piston, I understand that they are mahle and that they are forged by what I read. I would like to acquire them to rebuild the engine again.

Thank you

Not so quick.

First you need to know what the problem is. It might be the case that you need to go oversize on the bore so that you newly acquired top of the bill pistons turn out to be too small. And that is just one of the zillion things that can happen.

Start from the beginning. Do a systems check, check the compression etc. After that consider to lift the head and take a look. Consider to remove the oil pan to inspect the bearings on the crankshaft.

Don't start buying stuff at random without knowing how it looks like inside.

Ah so you suspect that two stock 2.8 pistons are placed? Let's hope one of the Alpina guys here has the details, otherwise you can also drop Alpina an e-mail.

I have disassembled the engine, it has 2 pistons that do not correspond and the 4 that do correspond have a mahle reference code 86p19 (there is no information, because of the shape they are different from those of an m30b28. Do you have the parts catalog?
