Uwbuurman: 1978 323i polaris: almost done

Brackets re-zinced, new master brake cylinder and clear reservoir.

I still had to give my bilstein B8’s a new coat of paint, due to some minor chips and scratches after installing the new bearings.

Looks great, doesn’t it?!



Everything sorted, fresh overhauled, re-zinced of new.



First damper assembled, but the disc left some minor scratches again..



But then the other one. What a bitch.



After a round of swearing I got my act together, started sanding and paining again, this time with the disc on it.



This will be put together next week.

Once the wireharnass is in it’s place, the headlights can be put back in their place. But a closer inspection learned me that some improvements can be made. You won’t believe it, but guess what, even on the frames there is filler, rust and crap like that.

So I sandblasted the whole lot and had it zinccoated again. Same for the nozzle brackets of the SWRA.

A few more layers before it all can be assembled again. Before doing so, I will clean the headlights on the inside. Looks kinda foggy inside the lights.

In order to get clearer lenses on mu e21, I flushed the headlights with warm water and tossed in a Steradent dental cleaning tab. After some soaking I flushed it it with demineralized water, so it won’t leave me with stains after they dry up. This process I repeated for no less than 5 times with some of the lenses.

Two of the headlights had signs of rust on the outside, but the inside was still ok. So to prevent them from rust, I sanded the carefully and painted them.
