And the last job for the day was to clean my inner mudflaps for the front wheelhouse. Most of them have cracks or missing corners. But fhese are in one piece!!

So, in March 2018 I went on with cleaning and refurbishing of parts that need to go on the engine.
Cleaned the trottle body.

Valve cover washed and cleaned.

Intake manifold washed, cleaned and brushed.

Several aluminium parts prepped for paint.

The vibration damper and two pulleys blasted and primered.

The airfilter box cleaned, sanded and painted.

Parts painted. I used paint with 97% aluminium particles


Fitted the re-zincked parts back onto the trottle body.

The resistor is ugly and dirty and I can not get it right. Reliability is questionable. So a new one has been ordered.

I am glad that mister Bosch always lets you know that you have a parts of his and that he gives the number that goes with it.

Wires of the timingplug are not well enough isolated.

It is fitted with a bracket on the thermostathouse.

Bracket off and prepping the rest for paint.

The pulleys and damper are ready for the first layer of black.



And some bits and pieces for the zincplater. This is the pressure release screw on the thermostat and two nuts from the gascable.

The exhaust manifolds are cast iron pieces. Dirty, ugly and rusty. They should have a steel heathshield on them, with two bolts that hold them. And the gave a m10 copper bolt for gastesting. But most of them have rotten shields, broken off bolts and different heathshields.
Mine was missing the shields and had all bolts rotted in of broken off. So I drilled them out.

Sandblasted them. One done, one not.

And sprayed with heath resistant paint, up to 850˚ celsius.

I fitted the car with Ferodo DS2500 brake pads. Ath the rear I've used the e30 ones hence my e30 calipers. In the front I used e21 ones. But I found out that those don't have the space for a wearindication sensor. But I wabt it to be or look like original. Otherwise doesn't fit in my head. So I altered one ove the pads.
Started with the pad

Then I started on the back plate.

Cut the plate, freed the space were the indicator goes into.

Some paint and we're done.

After the brake pad, I got the gearbox of the shelf. Dirty box, but a sport gearbox.

Round of new gaskets and seals ordered.

I took of the rear mounting bracket.

That has had a rough life, so a lot of wear.
