Direct master cylinder pedal box needed please

Post by Sav »

Good day to you all, I'm very new here and I have had a very good search on the topic but i'm struggling to find answers on this one. I have a late model rhd 316 with the big servo bracket linkage etc on it. I am considering getting shot of this big tangle of metal for a direct master cylinder with a chase bays manual braking conversion on it. I already have some wilwood four pots ready to go on so it should work out quite nicely. however, I need to find a pedal box without the stanchion bracket on it. I also have a broken arm for the accelerator cable that needs replacing alongside it. This last part I cannot find a part number for, it's like it does not exist. So if anyone has just that I'd be appreciative of the info.
Thanks for your time guys and have a lovely day

for a direct master linkage for a RHD, did you study the catalog of rally design?

for the arm, no 5 in this diagram? http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E21/E ... den_cable/

Hey there, yes! this is the diagram, unfortunately, its number 13, the one discontinued by the factory. ooh heck, I knew it would be a troublesome one when it went. Thank you so much for the diagram

75-77 rhd cars had a master cylinder bolted to the pedal box (same cylinder as a 2002)with two remote servos.
a early e12 bmw master cylinder is the same fitting but has a larger bore size .comparing my 75-77rhd pedal box to the later type i would say bmw just deleted the master cylinder fixing holes and added the extention bracket to mate with the remote linkage i the engine bay..

Thank you for the info on the early to late comparison. I've been trying to find pictures of the earlier plate to compare it. I was hoping to perhaps find an earlier plate but as its the same plate with an added bracket I'm wondering if it's worth cutting the bracket away with a grinder? then drill new holes for the cylinder. I wonder if there are any markings to guide the drilling? I'll have to go and look now.

I'll have to admit defeat on finding an early RHD pedal box here, so what I'm thinking is to fabricate one from the old box. I could grind off the bracket that holds the whole servo assy and then weld a tube and flange to the end as per the early ones.
The only thing I'd need are some dimensions, so if anyone at all has a box out that they could maybe measure up for me please? I reckon the plate that bolts to the bulkhead is the same thing. Just the bits welded to it that differ.
Thanks, as always in advance folks!

early rhd pedal boxes did not have a tube and flange(for servo?) .The master cylinder bolted straight to the pedal box and two remote servos were on the left hand side of the engine bay like the earlier 1602/2002rhd cars... i have early rhd pedal box at the side of me on the table i will send you my email to contact me if you need measurements and/or photos....

Hmm, My apologies, I can't remember where I think ive seen the one i have, unless it was a U.S model? I've sent you my email address over to you, thank you for your help. I'm wondering if it might be a case of trimming that bracket off the one I have and simply making the kit work once its in my hands?
