Engine Oil - Motul Classic Oil 20W50

Post by SFerrari »

Hi,

I know the subject is always dealing with endless discussions, but what do you think about this oil, considering:

BMW 318 y1978, Weber Carb, leaving in temperatured climate (not too hot- not too cold, between 5°C/41°F min to 25°C/77°F max with about 15°C/59°F average yearly temp). Only cruising drives.

Mineral multigrade engine oil specially designed for classic car engines built between 1950 and 1970. Lubricant for 4 Stroke Gasoline or Diesel engines, naturally aspirated, turbo or supercharged, with carburettor or injection. SAE 20W-50 formula meeting 1950-1970 standards (API SF/CC) and combining MOTUL’s current advanced technology to deliver a complete performance package for your classic car.

Here is the link to oil detail:

Thanks for your feedback ;-)

Depends of your geographic situation and the usage of your car. I wouldn't want to start my car with 20W50 on a morning when the car is 10degrees C.

The consensus here is that Motul 5W50 is an excellent oil. But that is a synthetic one, so don't use it when it hasn't been used from the beginning.

Try to find a thinner one when cold, like 10W50 or 5W50 as a mineral alternative.
