Well, I have a type 1 e21, build until 1979. Tours is newer and a type 2 e21. Different mirrors, front valance, dashboard, rear lights and some other details. The panel you welded on is also (a bit) different.

What’s the difference between type 1 and 2? Gap in the middle, type 1 is not round. The edge on top, that fits around the vinnumber. The are perfectly interchangeable, but that’s not how it should be ;-). The advantage of the type 2 is, that that one can be attached to the inner wing, unther the chassisnumber.

Look at the yellowone, that came of an 1977 original 320i. 3 spotweld in the front.

Ahhh! Yes my 323i is a 1982. Type 2 - facelift Modell

There were welding spots yes. I forgot them. Thanks for the Information
