Well, I am starting to feel that the "problem" may be the Bluetooth option of the unit, it seems that when the unit is turned off, the Bluetooth does not turn off immediately... : (once, after having turned the unit off, as I was opening the door to get out of the car, my cell phone rang, and the unit turned itself on automatically and gave me the call from the speakers)

And, as already mentioned, the electrician found out that when the unit is turned off last (after the engine is turned off) then it "pulls" more energy (for radio stations memory) than when the engine is turned off last...

May be the problem can be found somewhere in this area...

Anyone having experienced similar issues with bluetooth radio-cd units?

Ok-problem solution found, probably
Just spoke with a technician from Alpine
Connection should be done in a different way.
I'll try this today or tomorrow...then we'll see...

Up to now things seem to be going all right...So I think I could dare to say that the problem has been solved.

Damn...last 1 year and a half, I have experienced 2 rather significant electrical problems...(1st the idle and dash instruments showing nothing issue -see above, and 2nd this recent battery issue...) BOTH of them were problems caused because of technicians (because of changes on the car that I decided to do), and not because the car is getting old etc...It's like when you renovate an old house, and then you start discovering the little problems that workers left behind them...

So I CAN speak about E21 reliability!!!!

Ok, so today probably I'll take her after having done the first "mod" on the engine so far...Some may have already read about the weber carb in other threads...
Hopefully I'll post here news from driving experience soon.

Ok so here's the first report:
MARK THANK YOU!!!!!!! INCREDIBLE CHANGE!!!!!
Well, I have to mention that yesterday it was just 1st and 2nd gears-and 3rd only for some metres... (not enough distances for 4th and 5th in the city, so more reports when I get it out on motorway-and even more when I find the time to get to a mountain road-this is where I am looking forward to driving the car!!!)

Pics ASAP

Then you have to buy me a high quality video camera :D

Well, I'll do my best with my poor mobile phone (not too bad), but I don't know how to upload videos...

The truth is that I didn't expect such change in low RPM.
But for the rest of the band, as well as economy, I 'll be able to speak after some time, as I already mentioned above...

The sure thing is that, at present, I have a continuous desire to stop/drop everything and go take the car for a drive...!!!

weber carb made a big difference to my old m10 engine - i was able to do a little wheel spin! next thing you need to do is double check the engine timing and maybe even upgrade your dizzy to the electrical sender type that will help with the timing exact.

Dont drive too much otherwise you will get used to the new power too quickly! :)

Weber made a huge difference on my 316 too.. MPG stayed around the same - 25mpg around town, but I think that's because it actually moves when I put my foot down. :D

As my next project is to fit the BBS spoiler, I would appreciate some help with ideas of what to do with the front Hella foglights switch...
I will have to remove the front foglights. (I don't use them almost at all anyway...)
So the switch will have no use any more... The rear foglight (which I also don't have) switch hole I have used it for the alarm red indicator led. I am now trying to think what to do with that switch hole (I don't like to have things on the dash that are of no use...however, in order not to leave a hole there, I will leave the switch on even though it 'll have no use until I find what to do there.....)
