Did you try to locate a carb at some other preferred suppliers on this page: http://www.bmwe21.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5185

Perhaps Euro Carparts?

These deep dish wheels are great, I always feel standard the wheel is too far away. On a road car I'm ok with that but my track car had one of those as well. Good stuff! Keep in mind you need to find a matching hub for the E21 as well, appeared hard to find in Holland but perhaps also in the UK?

Hub is already on the car, but the steering wheel is too small. Looks a bit like this :Image

I have the weber conversion also. But then with the manual choke. Drives a lott better en responses quicker at the throttle.

I am glad to hear positive feedback about that conversion.
Now sometimes when you floor it in 2nd under 2K rpm it tends to 'drown' :/

Did you have to tune the weber Peter?

The 4A1 carb is indeed from lower revs a "problem". It seems like you have to wait a short time before it's reacting. The weber is much better in that.

I had the weberset through someone from the forum as a complete package new but with missing a few parts. Mostly from the choke system (cable, lever etc). I bought those parts at a shop in the netherlands.

the manual included makes it an easy change. Because of the manual choke i had to link the coolinghoses but that is no problem.

The only tuning was for the CO and idle rpm but that is all. This is told in the manual also and is very easy. The only thing that you must check very good is the space between the airfilter (original) and the bonnet, the weber is a little bit higher.

Better look in the Dutch section, several people have upgraded to a Weber replacement carb (I believe Thegs, Peter V. for example) and appear quite pleased with the result. The original 4A1 carb is a known pain in the *ss, if it starts giving you trouble the trouble often remains.

Why is he saying that? The carb did not give you the broken gasket and head?
