Well with this topic being in the Dutch Alpina/Hartge register things are already messed up

Well there won't be too many people from Holland that can be bothered about 1/4 mile times I'm afraid, even lap times aren't a regular topic here. Still, this topic and the comparison of the different cars will be of interest for more people. As it's mostly E30 indeed I'll move this thread to Other Stuff > E30 Section

should you move the Alpina/Hartge/modified section over to the main board perhaps?
Given that there are now two B6s in the British Isles and at least 1 C1 2.3?
Over to you.............
I will be showing updates of "Herman" once we get it through the test etc

Well cars like that can just be posted in the english owners gallery I guess. Since we have far more dutch members, we split up the dutch owners' gallery in these categories...

Latest on the Hartge saga
Have been using Big Red- the Hartge for my daily commute as my usual daily driver is still in Inverness
Well the cylindar head defo has a problem - we have mayonnaise in the radiator cap and more worryingly on the oil dipstick!
So that explains the lack of power!
Steve's team will have to look at this when they can- really annoying since they had rebuilt the head already!
Gonzo- I might need your spare E30 head?

Well it has taken a while before we got around to fixing Big Red!
A question of other priorities and calls on my £- each one I have has 3 uses at present!
Anyway- I sourced a Griffin s'hand head from Fritz- and Steve rebuilt it with all my Hartge stuff- Fritz then came over and was fiddling with Herman's set-up- see other thread- and then set up Big Red- with an exhaust analyser.
Fritz found some redundant Emissions stuff - removed same and then fitted the spare ECU that Ian an E30 racer had previously given me- result fantastic it now revs cleanly over 7k- with no heating/water issues- Fritz said that Ian's chip was one of his originally!
Fritz and Steve poured over my old 885 head and found the hairline crack- no wonder the Drag race was such a disappointment for Hartge fans; and Big Red failed so miserably
Can't wait for Sept Drag races again to see the improvement- although Big Red needs a little tlc in meantime- it is such a well balanced car (and I know it so well) that I find it much easier to drive than Herman- trail braking etc- which I haven't done in Herman for eg

I know this thread has been dormant for a while- But now I have the answers a healthy Hartge H26 vs Alpina B6 28
We know that Herman the Alpina managed a best of 14.32 and won the 14.30 bracket class on the first run
well guess what?
Big Red managed to "win" the 15.30 second class with the first run of 15.35 @ 90 mph- I say "win" as there is a second day of competition tomorrow.
NB there was a fearsome headwind today- Manx Straightliners had reversed the track!
So in essence the Alpina is both lighter and more powerful than the Hartge I was surprised that 1 second was the difference- but the key here is that at last we managed to obtain a half decent time over the 15.80 second run with failing cyl head.
