UR welcome. And just as with the S50, with unknown history and mileage a good next step may be to replace the conrod bearings if everything else checks out fine. Easy job with the engine out anyway. And of course there are so many things you can check or replace from there. Complete intake overhaul to prevent very common vacuum leaks, check on all hoses, especially the ones hidden under the throttle bodies.

And if you really want to go all the way you can remove the timing chain covers, check the cogwheels for wear and replace the chain guides. I never went that far with my engine though, with a full history and brand new condition original conrod bearings I decided to take a risk on the timing chain based on the good overall condition of all other parts and on the fact that I could not find any noticeable chain stretch. There are many horror stories about timing chains but these issues mostly belong to the single line timing chains as used on the M88 engine. S14, S38 and all later models have a duplex chain.

Engine was dissembled today completely as history was not quite clear. And i can say that looks good. But anyway some parts will be changed as this will be racing engine and I don't want to get in trouble.

Some 4 hundreds of wear out. Nothing special for everyday engine but for race it looks that I will have new pistons

Are those water outlets above each of the exhaust ports?

Yes the water rail is above the exhaust ports

Have you priced up all the timing chain parts & guides pull gaskets, last time I checked it was about 1.5K euro

You're not wasting any time now do you? Hahaha, doesn't look too bad indeed.

Wasn't aware timing parts had gone up by that much, with bearings, all intake parts like hoses, gaskets, o-rings, etc it will cost a few $$ already
