Yeah black is hard to keep clean, but I also don't plan on daily driving it either and black with all of the chrome and aluminum trim these cars have looks fantastic. At the same time, since the gray is the original color it probably seems like the way to go. But maintenance aside, I think I prefer the black. I've been going back and forth for years on this and it's making me crazy! :screwy. One of these days I'll start a thread on here with my restoration effort.

Keep the updates and pics coming though. You're almost there and putting it all back together is the fun part.

That sounddeadaning thing against the bulkhead? Bmw sells reproductions which are of very poor quality. We have several examples on this forum of people who got theirs already cracker on delivery. So do check it thorough.

Thanks I will check it as soon as it arrives, im having to modify a lhd pad as the rhd is no longer available unfortunately.

Took my front shocks to a local engineering company to have the threads cleaned up.

yes it looks good, it isnt brittle or cracked anywhere and feels nice and thick.

I love the rug too, my son needs somewhere to park his little BMWs :playcar

Yes its nice isnt it. its bolted through the boot floor with plates each side across the bolts
and a strap inside to hold the battery down

looks great! but just do me one favour. Change out those orange bulbs behind the clear lenzes for Philips Silvervision bulbs. They are silvercoated, so when turned off they don't give that orange glow your persent ones do.
