It's my age.
Have been looking at DTA S40 as a slightly cheaper alternative too. Mind you, there's still the cost of the loom and any sensors to factor in.

The AEM is similar to the DASTEK Unichip but i think some of the bigger differences are that as well as supporting upt to 6 individual injectors (sequential if the orginal ecu utilised that) it takes over control, whereas the DASTEK modifies the original signal the AEM intercepts the original and then sends it's own dependent on the preloaded feual map. the AEM GUI is quite simple to understand too, i have no experience of the DASTEK GUI.

im also looking at engine management solutions and I think I might go for the link - it plugs and plays with the existing loom so no need to rewire the engine. also has a provision for a MAP sensor,

Sounds ideal. I've actually bitten the bullet and opted for the DTA S60 Pro.
http://www.dtafast.co.uk/S_60_PRO.htm Once up and running, it's going down to Paul Sheppard @ Castle Combe for mapping duties.

Don't you want the s80 as supports 6 cyl and over engines? Correct me if I'm wrong but the site says the s60 is for four coils?
Edit just seen it uses wasted spark

I've got the option of either, but as I know as much about mapping as I do quantum physics, I'll leave it to Paul. He seemed to think even the s40 would be enough for the m52 though.
Been chatting with this chap here -
https://www.facebook.com/Olliminium and plan to make use of his fabrication skills for an alloy airbox and intake. Hope to go over this week and do some CAD work. (cardboard aided design) His welding is awesome.

Been fabricating a fuse board (which will be tucked away in the glove box) in readiness for the trimmer coming after the weekend. Finished doing the dynamat and ready for new carpet. I want to remove the cage first though, go that the cage feet and bolts will still be visible. Have also decided to have the Prototipo recovered in alcantara. I need to get the gauges and mounting panel in next.
Once the box is properly trimmed there's an aluminium cover for the fuses.
