After 4000 km the head gasket gave up. Not sure yet the reason for it failing. I had an minor overheat accident after a thermostat failure. Not sure if that is part of the reason.
So I´ve bought a 731 head, which my friend has been preparing for me, checking it with the BMW manual for clearings, etc. The head is in good condition, probably low milage.

The head is now going to the machine shop to be milled off.

Then I hope it will be change of head before winter and storage.

A few pictures from the head I bought.

A minor update.

My head is being prepared for installation, the 200 head is off. My friend has checked the head for leak, and it´s all good.
I´m abit exited for the 731 head, I wonder if I will notice the difference in power compared to the 200 head.

Hopefully I get my car ready for 1.May, as this is start of the veteran car season. 1.May is big happening in Norway, all sorts of cars is gathering at different locations all over Norway, to mark the start of spring.

Happy Easter everyone :D

:banana Yay, engine is all put together, and has been started, timing is adjusted for now.

Had some issues after the coldstart injector stopped adding extra fuel, then engine began to run very poorly. Couldn´t figure it out at the first.
But after some searching around, I found the rubber suction hood, wasn´t properly fitted, so I had vacuum leak, so the baffle didn´t lift enough to give proper amount of fuel.
After sorting this out, the engine ran good.

I had the radiator replaced with a new original BMW, because the other I had from Behr, has so much rust inside. I think it doesn´t work properly, and that the cooling is very poor. Since I´m having trouble keeping the temp at normal. I made an override switch inside the car to force the fan run at low speed to give the radiator more cooling. So I hope this new one sort out that issue.

There is a minor engine sound change from the 200 head, with the 731 head, and the engine seems to respond abit better on reving.

So now all there is the left before taking it out for a drive is to check and do the valve clearance adjustment, and turn the idle speed down abit, seems to be around 1500 now.

I´m so ready for a proper road test now :driving

Yeah, nice to finally being able to drive the car again.
I have a leak problem around the water pumpe, either it´s leaking through the gasket, or the pump spindel is leaking. Can´t figure out yet where the leak is from, need to take off the timing cover, and have a look when idling, and see where it´s coming from.

So still not 100%, but I can drive the car, just need to add abit of water now and then until I have a new gasket and pump delivered.
