I have the rear trailing arms, from 6 cylinder model. So the rear discs will be bolt on these
However, I am pretty sure I have seen in a post somewhere in the forum, that the conversion can be done on the rear trailing arms of 4 cylinder cars as mine.

Super
Thanks Mihaljo

Hopefully in the following days I will start to take (and post here) pics of the brake conversion as well as the other upgrades

The link is to a aardvark (vw) disc brake conversion, not a 4cyl to 6cyl E21 conversion.

Thing is that there are two types of E21 323 rear disc brake models... The brake pressure regulator I believe was introduced with the later model in 81.

So if you, like me, have the early car, but the late rear disc brakes, I think you may need to change (or add) the brake pressure regulator.

Check etk.cc for part numbers etc and you will see...

Do you know what model car your disc brakes are from?

No, I'm afraid.
However, I am pretty sure I had a brake pressure regulator replacement recently

Is this what you mean?

Not sure. But is part number 34341151640 and was changed in 09.1979 (not 81 like I said before), same time the rear calipers were changed to a model without a bias valve on the caliper itself.

Again, I am not 100% sure on this matter. It may just be bolt on. But at least keep this in mind. And let me know what you find out :) I will be doing the same proceedure as soon as I get my garage built :)

Correct, this is the same as mine :) So we are facing the same question.

Does a rear brake disc conversion on a car pre 08.1979 taking rear disc brakes from a 323 newer then 08.1979 require the brake pressure regulator to be changed to the newer version?

I asked my mechanic yesterday, he did not actually reply, he said something like: No worries, I will do this
:-)
He already started keeping secrets from me...!

Anyway, the engine has started running a bit weird since the day before yesterday... Trembling, reluctant revving, and when I leave the foot from the gas pedal It starts making small blasts (misfires is probably the right term?)

Better check your adjustments then.

As for brake balance, if you have a brake test bench somewhere near you you can check what the Front/Rear balance is to see if it needs a pressure limiter for the rears at all.

My first thoughts were actually that the car started being angry at me because it doesn't want to loose its engine :loll

But the mechanic said that the sparks he put recently were no good any more (and I had only done 2000 km)
We had chosen the Beru ultra x which are really good quality but it seems that they are not as good for this car? He replaced them by Bosch super (or super plus?) which he said are exact for the car's timing...I am not good at all that stuff, but it seems the car is transformed, (comparing with the days when the other sparks were new)
Very good low end throttle response, can move really fast in traffic(haven't had yet the chance to go out of the city)

Hopefully soon I will be able to upload some better pics

Worried about a small something that looks like crack (a couple of them)
But the mechanic reassures me that this is absolutely nothing
