Pity but clear. I already couldn't remember any recent updates hence I was getting curious. But a Caterham can be good fun as well! Anyway, sorry for the OT!

been measuring again, looks like the rears i have are a Rally/forest spec, hence why they are so long with a lower spring rate of around 200lb/inch, with the escort tops on they measure 24"
I think i will suck it and see with them, and make the strut top change to single bolt type. it makes life a lot easier in the future to change struts to upside down high pressure gas units anyway.

I have noticed a lot of bmw engined lotus 7 style cars lately, as well as a few escort rally cars.
If i was'nt doing the E21 it would have been a caterham thing probably.

What BMW engines are they using for those conversions?

I could imagine that but I was curious if they had other solutions in order to have less weight on the front axle

The escorts where m52 b28, same reasons for the conversion in the E21.
Marlin are doing kits as well.
Probably the reason for the recent increase in used parts prices
Remember this on Top Gear:

Weismann bmw v10 M3 based thing.

I have seen one of these gkd cars at a show, they are a LOT bigger then the lotus 7 - like a giant version of it.

One of them left Gaydon when we did. Bloody quick.
