I do have a pretty nice day yesterday. The Bilsteins coming back from the best hungarian Bilstein specialist (or professor? ). Shortened, and hardened, pretty interested how it will works.

Now i'm playing with the liquid poliurethane. The diffhangers and the rear subframe's rubber mountings now prepared to pour the stuff. I want to weld the second diffhanger on sunday, or monday if i finished the hangers. The halfshafts now is on way to shortening, i think its ready on next week. The engine mechanic said the engine can go to the shop on the next week, so i hope the car now on the final way to finising the mechanical things. I hope on the next week the new brake calipers is on my hand. That is four pot brake calipers from an e23, with brake discs and hubs.

Now the e30 LSD was fitted, the shortened halfshafts are ready to weld. And of course i would remove that rusty screw.

great idea shortening the drive shafts... can you give more details on how you weld them so they are very strong?

how much difference is there in length?

i cut and welded some shafts on a custom trike i built cut them to the lengh i needed then cut chunks out so they were the opposite then drilled a hole then put a peg through welded it all together then over sleeved them ill try and find pics out

I think its will strong enough, here are some much stronger turbo BMW's using shortened halfshafts without any problem. Now i dont know exactly, if i remember the right side is 3cm, and the left is 2cm shorter, or vica versa. first, we pulled that tube to the shafts, and joining the two half of the halfshafts ( ). Welding together the two shafts, and machining down the weld even the halfshaft's surface. After pulled over the "tube", and welded around, thats all. Tomorrow i make a test fit to make sure its ok, and if we make the welding, i'll take pic's. Sorry about the english, hope its ok.

Cleaned the transmission, changed the oil seal rings, made new bushings to the shifter, refurbished the clutch slave cylinder. Painted cause i dont like how it looks after cleaning.

We start to build the engine. My friend made ​​an incredibly thorough job, measured everything. The engine block is perfect, he just honing the cylinderwalls, anim cleaned the block. The crank is perfect too, wearing is only 1/100 mm. The pistons pretty good too. He measured the cylinder overhanging....

After the engineblock is ready, next was to make the valve pockets with this beautyful chopper.

Next step to put up the cylinderhead.

Nice work. I am impressed of what you do without a garage. Someday I will do something with a E21 myself.
