Re Meyle see viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5185&p=242453&hilit=Meyle#p242453
I compared both the old BMW and the new Meyle bearings on both the old BMW shock and the new Bilstein shock, and the same freeplay was present in all cases. The play is not veritical or in the bearing itself; it turns out the outer diameter of the top part of the shock that goes into the bearing, is slightly smaller than the inner diamter of the hole in the bearing. Since it was identical in all combinations I concluded it is supposes to be like that and bolted it back together with the Meyle.

But with that tightened correctly you should not feel any freeplay, or?

Checked the wheels.

Tires are 205/40 R17.

Rims are 17x8", ET 27, CB 57,1. The rear wheels were fitted with a spacer, I think 10mm.

The car came with these wheels fitted - I didn't know that ET 27 would fit at all!

Subframe is back on, along with new stainless steel exhaust.

I was on my own, so Instead of jacking the entire thing up in one piece I did the frame first, then the diff with driveshafts (with help of my jack), and finally the trailing arms.

Got concerned when the owner of the garage I rent called me.....luckily not to tell me any bad news about the car, but unfortunately the whole building is being demolished, so I had to move out.

So I went to dig out the trailer, got the 318 out of hibernation and loaded up. First view on new suspension! 35mm H&R lowering springs. Sits nicely, but only had the steels at hand.

Thanks! Totally outclasses the car as it sits now, but I hope that will change :)

My guy used the old covers I had as templates, and re-used all the bits that attach it to the seat.

Oh man I can't wait! Spent so many hours last summer and autumn driving around finding the seats, sitting in those crappy worn down orginals. Hopefully get the covers back by the weekend, and can get them back together then :banana
