Glad you like it Jimi,

Thanks again for the info on the electric sunroof conversion, I will post of the sunroof pretty soon as well as the dashboard, console etc.
Your E30 seats would look nice in it but I’m resisting the temptation to put anything E30 outside the car, including angel eyes, even though it would improve the lighting.

Jason, didn't really get all of that, were you drinking? I saw your post about looking for some diff parts, are you looking to do the same, or a similar kind of conversion to install an E30 gearbox, or have you already done it?

Right,

I'm going to go see if I still have the original somwhere. If so, I will definitely get back to you.

Been a while since an update I know. Well things are going to get worse before they get better. Dr Jim has been a massive help.

Anyway, the car is now at my mechanics, finishing off a few jobs, welding in a jacking point, tightening the rear propshaft coupling, fitting new brake hoses, Z3 gearshift linkage and hopefully this!

Image

Brand new LHD 6 branch stainless steel manifold, bought from an E30 Zoner, for the princely sum of £65

Next job after the mechanics is to have some custom hoses made for the E30 oil cooler, which currently sits a little too low to the floor, bumper, trim and interior back in and then it's done!

Arshad, nice no know things are happening with your car like updates, one thing if thats an E30 6 branch then it may not fit or if i remember it wont fit, it will be hitting the side chassis unless you have already tried cos i have tried with a mate on his car and it was a no way, had to give back... the exhaust has to be a full 323i e21 setup up.. but clarify that to make sure but like i says it wont fit as far as myexperiances..

Thanks for that J,

Damm! Well I'll hear from my mechanic, see what he can do then. I'll keep you posted either way.

So what did the mechanic man say when he saw it, was it the sucking breath through teeth thing???

You did ask him to sort out that plate under the RHS sill/floor didn't you?

Hi Jim,

I did! Will go down today and see what he's done. I told him about the gear linkage thing and that the selector rod needed bending and seemed cool with it!

Let you know what the damage is when I go down today

He hasn't even started it the lazy b'sturd! Actually he's a bit short staffed till next week. Let you know by next week, main thing is he's willing to do the work.
Next two weeks off from work, so I'll have time to get everything just right.

Arshad, i wouldnt hold my breath for those weeks you have to wait!! i spoke to a few mates who also tried it with different E30 make 6 branch and they simply just dont fit!!! (as i thought) and you cant heat to bend into shape cos it wont do as they have tried.. id take it back for your money and get a 6 branch by frits bits, i think jason 323 has ione for sale!! dont know if he sold it or not.. but dont waste your time.. maybe a complete e30 setup your running but exhaust has to be of 323i exhaust setup of the way its designed to fit under the chassis design e.t.c. hope you can get your money back on this..

No I won't Alpina,

Bought as seen. I'm sure someone will have it off me. As for fitting it, well never say never! I'm going to give it a go anyway!

give it a try arshad, but you wont be able to mate the rest of the 323i exhaust to it also cos its designed specifically for the E30 exhaust system so if you do "somehow" fit the 6 branch then you have to tow it to a stainless steel exhaust place to make the rest up.. simply the e30 6 branch isnt for the E21 deisgn unless you get the guys to modify the exhaust on your car and extend the piping to fit the front.

£65 is good for a 6 branch, if when you try fit and dont wanna know you can put it on your garage wall for show cos its chromed from what i can see and does look nice...... ornamant

Jimi,

It makes sense what you're saying. I might just leave it for now then. Might be able to use it as part of a full custom stainless setup some day. Lots of other things to do on the car, so the manifold can wait for now :)
