February 9, 2012.

Earlier I took the front seat apart, because a seam was torn, just like the rearseat. It also had wear. I had it fixed, so now I can put the leather back on. The rearseat has as twist in the seam, because the leather was loose for a long time. After the colourlock I will see how it sits in the car. But is better than a torn seam, for sure!!

Here we go with my LLP! (Leather Protection programme). In short, COLOURLOCK time!!!!

I started on the rear seat.

First cleaning. Because the previous owner had several dogs in his car, previous conditioners used and an age of 25 years I used the strong cleaner. Thats a foam applied with a brush and wiped with a clean towel. After that I cleane dit with refined petrol. After that it needs to dry for at least 2 hours.

Uncleaned rearseat:

Because of the cleaning the lines in the leather become more visable, but I saw the leather getting cleaner at every wipe.

Left cleaned, right not

After that I sanded the leather with a regular piece of sandpaper, grid 240.

Then the Leather Fresh (made to colour). Rights is with Leather Fresh, links not. Apply part after part, in betwee dry with a hairdryer. On youtube I see them do it with a paintstripper, but a hairdryer seems safer to me.

Backrest of the at is all dirty

Frontseat cleaned

With leatherfresh

After applying the Leather Fresh it needs to harden for 2 days, before I can go on to the next stap.

The next two staps are:
1. The protector, which protects the spots that have a lot of wear to them.
2. The Elephant leathergrease, to protect the leather and to keep it moist.

When this seat is ready I will sort the passengerseat an the rear backrest.
