Bloody Hell Jad,
Nice to hear from you! Well it's so close! Petros gave me your number, but like you I lost when I changed my old phone. I was hoping that offer for Waxoiling was still there!
Spoke to my mechanic today, the alternator died, found him a replacement so he's just go to bolt that on.
How are you doing anyway fella? Still fit and healthy? Are you still in the bodywork game?
I see Pip every now and then, he's still the same. Derrick gave me a laptop to fix. I was going to just hold onto it for 3 years, take all the bits out and generally take the piss with it, pretty much like they had with my car!
Anyway I'll pm you my number we'll have to catch up soon.

I am sort of glad that your alternator was duff, because 1 that's what I suspected when it wouldn't run on the original battery, and 2 it means it's not my battery charger that's knackered!
Hopefully all systems go for saturday with a Baur to look at if the truck man calls me back.

Too true Jim,
Jimi London was right about the manifold. Still got to arrange a trip to Pirtek for the hoses, then the rebuild can begin!

Get the hoses done tomorrow, if you don't get the car fixed up soon it'll have been in rehab for a whole year!
A promise is a promise.

A promise is a promise, just let me know when, i cant remember what else there was, but let me know what your stuck with and i'll sort some time out to get over and do it.
Don't forget to get that number to me, or if you see Ped, he's still got it, so just tell him i said its ok to let you have it.
Not doing a lot on the cars anymore, more bikes latley, but thats another story!!
As for that lap top you are going to leave out in the rain uncovered for three years before you get some one else to sort the job and finish it off for you of course, in true DD style
Speak to you soon and keep up the good work.
Jad.

Thanks for that Jad, well you have my number, so look forward to hearing from you.
Quick update on the car. All welding has been done. E30 Alternator fitted, Z3 gear linkage hasn't though. A little annoying, but they said they'd have a crack at MOT time.
I have the E30 325i oil coolers that's fixed a little too close to the ground. I took it to a local supplier to have some flexi hoses made that would help me relocate the oil cooler a little higher up. Say's I would have to take them off and bring them in and he would be able to make something up for me.

It has been a long time and I've been very quiet, but progress is finally being made!
Car is done now mechanically, a few more cosmetic touches, but I took it to my buddies carwash and it got a fair bit of attention.
Air conditioning pretty much there, Z3 shortshifter now installed, drives like a dream, will let you have a razz next time I see you Doc Jim.
although not quite as much as the chrome wrapped SLR of a certain Bolton Wanderers footballer!

Quite some progress, looking good (especially the wheels

)
But that bling SLR... butt ugly, utterly tasteless

Thanks J!
Wheels are next on my list, managed to find someone who can not only refurb, but polish the lips too, which I really want.
Agree with you about the SLR, met another guy in the same crwash with a £29,000 gold plated, ruby encrusted mobile phone. Except mine cost £100 and has more features

I don't think there's any dispute the engineering of one. Its the chrome wrap that probably isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Must admit, im not a chrome person, that car would look nicer if it were in Black to be honest... maybe Red but not comparing it with the ferrari red as comparison allthough they are both in a league of there own.. still nice car...

This is the first time I've seen this thread, where has it been hiding all this time? Top work Arshad, that's some real dedication you've got there to be seeing this project through for so long. Look forward to seeing some interior shots of the E21/E30 hybrid. And some quality shots of the car overall, how long till it's finished?
Regarding lights- I'd recommend Osram Nightraper bulbs if you want to up the lighting without going E30/angel eyes.
Regarding SLRs- don't have a problem with them (though obviously not as cool as 20 year old 190s

), but chrome wraps? HIDEOUS!
