haha that bloody spoiler eh -

you know it doesnt look so bad now i have these wheels on - doesnt seem to stick out as much?

also check out the twisted evil mudflaps going on!!!

im telling you guys that the spoiler and mudflaps is a good look - trust me all the VW boys are gonna start wanting to do the same to their cars!!!

all seriousness though - i have a new bootlid with no spoiler to go on - its a different colour so will need spraying - i was going to leave that till winter time tbh.

Veeeeeeeeeeeeerrrry nice! I'm gettin a real hankerin for a brown interior now- old skool!

Are you going to debadge your new bootlid? I'm picturing it now- no spoiler, no badge, pressed plates and a stainless steel pipe at a jaunty angle for a bit of euro-look, yeah!

I went on a part gathering mission, decided to buy a whole 323i donor as i wanted the front struts and a rear beam for the rear disk brakes and a few other things such as gearbox, prop, engine mounts, flywheel, starter, rear diff etc.. etc.

I ended up finding something rather local, it was partially stripped already but complete (the stuff was in the boot and it came with a fair few goodies).

Image

so i started stripping it out,

I struggled to undo some bolts but in only !!four days!! i managed it and then the e21 was soooo light - it started floating off!!!!
.
behold the mysterious flying e21 :D

Image

bought some more stuff like rear camber plates and a full set of polybushes, and a few other things like a nice 9 drawer roller bearing tool chest.

Image

also bought an engine donor although its more like a parts shed at the minute haha.

Image

next thing to do is send the struts off to be made into GAZ coilovers

the rest of the suspension parts I will be de-rusting and painting so it looks nice and protects the metal..

pressing out the old bushes / getting the rear beam slotted and the camber plates on.

more to come over the next few weeks. im on a tight schedule so i hope i find the time!

today it was a really nice sunny day up in yorkshire. I decided to recommision the 316.

The car hasnt emerged from the garage in 6 months, but i have been starting it up and letting it get warm every few weeks.

So I took him out and changed the spark plug leads for some new ones, and gave it a cheeky run up n down the street, for some reason the passenger side hub was a bit loose? so i took out the split pin and gave it a bit of a tighten and now its sorted.

I decided that id give boris a wash.

Couldnt resist taking a pic or two. check out my marvelous photographic skills with a HTC HD2 mobile phone!!

also had a go at cleaning up and painting the suspension parts with rust bullet.

1. wire bush like hell.
2. rough sandpaper
3. gunk degrease
4. let it dry
5. www.rustbullet.com - paint with this stuff.. its REALLY good.

I got loads some more stuff to do, next week i should have the rear beam modified with camber plates. ive got all the hardware to do it now.

Hopefully should be a week or so when i get my GAZ suspension back. it always seems to take forever when your waiting for goodies to arrive!

The 5 series has been left at a mates and taken off the road, will be cashing in the tax disk and then taxing boris so hes road legal again at the end of the month. cant be doing with missing out on all this lovely cruising weather!
