And the original Datsun Silvia:

He was also famously linked to both the Toyota 2000GT and the Datsun 240Z as he carried out consultation work for a two seater sports car project for both companies via Yamaha, initially for Nissan (Datsun). When Nissan abandoned the project, Yamaha took the project to Toyota which with further work evolved into the Toyota 2000GT.

btw, thats not an engine transplant, its an, um, body transplant... haha. the whole chassis of a merc coupe was used and the old body was widened and lengthened to fit on it. its all modern right throught (including dash and aircon, elec seats etc). theres a build thread somewhere for it, and its been on a few sites. it dominated sema last year or the year before.

back to bmw, im not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but its worthy of another one if it has been...

My dream motorway!

That Mercedes... over the top, turning a classic into a rice racer, not my cup of tea.

wrong terminology there Jeroen!

A Ricer =

Any oriental import car that has been modified for no real performance gain.

e.g. An oriental car with no engine mods, a body kit, and possibly stickers. Made to look fast.

Not a ricer: A car with a fully built engine, drive train, and suspension regardless of appearance

This mercedes is perfectly executed. classic looks and insane power - pretty much how every classic car should be in my opinion.

To me the average ricer is a tasteless modded car so a matter of taste I say, imho this hasn't done the original car any good

You lower your E21 so much an ant does not fit underneath and fit a modern V8, I'll stick to my car as is...

:) not a fan of too low either that Mercedes is on airbags so they raise it when they want to drive ..

i find high power in old cars real exciting esp. if it appears standard

Federal laws on lighting are quite different to ours; check out pics of 70s/80s/90s U.S. spec Mercs and XJS's and you'll see what I mean:

Yes, it's an E39 5er:
In an attempt to break the Guinness record for smashing through “the largest breakaway glass structure in a car,” Hollywood stuntman Rock Taylor drives through a giant sheet of glass at the O2 Arena in London on Tuesday.
