Maestro & Montego had them too I think? I had an e21 with a talking alarm about 9 years ago. It sounded like Steven Hawkin getting a cob on and told you to ''step back from the vehicle''.

Who cares what anyone else thinks? It's your car and you like them, end of.

Anyone can just buy and bolt any shit on. I'm not one of them. I don't give a toss about alpina badges nor period parts or collecting factory extras. I only like the body styling of the e21. Everything else that the car came with is shit. M10 engine, suspension brakes and 13" balloon tyres. All crap and now all those parts are scrapped. I think the standard clocks are boring and also crap cos they didn't work after I had done upgrades.

People say I am crazy all the time. But I'm no fool. I know what in doing you just have to trust me. I won t let you down.

If you look about ten or 15 pages back when I had the interior done Murran said I was mad cos in his eyes these old cars are meant to be tramp drifted into walls and everything done on the most cheapest possible way.

I had the quaife diff fitted Jimmy told me i was stupid and I'd snap my diff. it didn't happen and I thrashed the crap out of that diff and it's still happy today in another e21 24 valves that I built.

There has only been two guys who have criticised my new dash. Everyone else likes the radical thinking. Like you say Mark I built it for me.

Wait till you see what I do next.

I'd like to see everyone give his or her E21 its own icing, or in your case for example replace the entire cake lol. Different approaches, different goals, that makes it fun here. If we'd all leave our E21 stock and just do oil changes it wouldn't be much fun here!

I love the dash, it reminds me of the Digi dash in my neighbours opel Monza

You could get those on mk2 Astra as well, and the digifiz was an option on mk2 golf on the continent. Very 80's, but hey, the 80's are cool now!

Exactly my sentiments! in their day, these were great cars by the standards of their rivals, but by todays standards, whilst still alot of fun, they are crap! Unless you have a mint low mileage car, it doesn't seem to be too detrimental to values to do tasteful upgrades, and given the level of some of the restorations people are willing to do, removing a none standard engine and refitting the cars original motor doesn't seem like alot of hassle.

I was talking about this with a mate of mine, I had an epiphany last week, I said to him, that when I first bought my bone standard e21, i was actually really scared driving it, there was no brake feel, no steering feel, the car had some major handling issues and it felt scary cos you didn't know if this bend coming up was going to end in a crash. Now i have spent the money and time and all that improving stuff, the car can be a little scary in bad weather, or sometimes because the back end will kick out at high speeds and surprise you. I sometimes get that nagging feeling i may end up in a crash - so In that respect even after all this time and effort i still in the exact same place as when the car was standard?! :loll

Haha the first part is from that film "CB4" where MC Gusto (chris rock) is in a car chase - as the real Gusto whos identity he stole and his gangster right hand man "40 dog" are shooting at him. MC Gusto says "Only a FOOOL will follow me up here!" as he joins the LA freeway traffic, and the real Gusto screams to a halt and he says "EYY YO I MAYBE CRAZY BUT I AINT NO FOO"

The rest of what i said there is usually my famous last words before i cock something up or let someone down.

Looks like the speedo sweep area only goes to about 100mph, no good for the German Autobahn's :thumbsup
Can it be calibrated to give a slower sweep? more range?

Interesting mod to do, unsure if I like it but its your car, mod it how you want it.

i like how this modification divides opinion. don't worry i can change it back to boring standard clocks and just use a clip on speedo i guess. I wanted to do something different, also everything i have done so far seems to have been fairly standard now for an e21 or done before. I hope I am the first to do this just because.

The sweep can be modified if you ask them, I didn't so maybe its too late, i have tested it and it does only sweep round to 100, I think this is because it maybe American? Anyway i doesn't bother me because the digits in the middle can go up to 255mph.

you don't have a speedo do you Ben? if you did stick one in what was your solution as i know we are running the same box and diff.

I'm going to try and fit an E24 160mph electric in the original dash? with a modified E30 trigger wheel & sensor on the diff output shaft.
It will only need a couple of wire fitting to get it working, hopefully
