The current state of play, it's getting there


I've done some odd bits and pieces this week, including cutting the inner wing and refitting the fuel tanks and replacing the breather pipes (something I don't want to do again!). I've started on the wiring and putting the battery in the boot. I also replaced the waterpump, thermostat and thermostat housing. Should be running soon.

Thanks again for sending it. Unfortunately it was too wide between the throttle and inner wing, and I would of had to use big reducer rings to fit the M50 TB. You never know I might end up using it for something else so I'm going to paypal you.

In the end this was the quickest and cheapest option I had, when it comes to put it back on the road I'll seal it all up.

samco would o been cheaper, make sure you use some thick steel when plating it back up, does the wheel rub on full lock left?

Since it cost me one slitting disc so far I think this will work out cheapest. The samco would have to be a very tight angle and different diameters at both ends, it would also have to extend quite far forwards to create clearance for the MAF and wiring past the inner wing. It's no where near the wheel on full lock and won't protrude any further towards the wheel than the brace that's already there. Also E36 elbows are off the shelf.

Rob one night can i bring my e21 to you to get the Diff welded, will bring a couple o beers and some munchies, dont really wanna pay the goon next door to borrow his welder again, would rather spend the fuel money coming over yours n making a night of it.

I normally borrow my friends welding rig to get some serious power into it but he's on the farm also (with the E12), yeah it should be fun. When are you thinking of?

Empty the oil out of it and give it a good clean (I normally pressure wash mine) before you come and it make things much easier.

i was gonna weld it in place on the car , i not gonna have a boot floor so will be easy to access, and wont be till after crimbo i expect, cant afford the fuel to come over before then

Your brave! I was thinking i would weld an ally bend directly to the TB housing but im not sure its possible to weld to the diecast. Might go the silicone hose method.
Going to have air filter under the wing or in the bay?
