All the build on parts on the engine are fitted, apart from the starter, synamo Nd powersteering pump. The block is now ready to fit the gearbox. So I plated the block on a cart.
The flywheel with a new needlebearing fitted onbthe crackshaft.
And the vlutch could go on. Jan made a tool, afiiting tool, that centers the clutchplate during assembly.
I still don't have a ramp, but I still wanted to put the block in the car from underneath. So I've put the car on it's wheels in the rear, creating a turningpoint. And I jacked it up at the front. Shifterstick and intakemanifold are the highest points, so once they cleared the front crossbeam, the car can be lowered again.
Fitting and alining
And the body can be lowered and put on jacks.
The engine is under the car, but the aren't married yet.
Engine and box are jacked up towards the car. And it is done.
I could start working on the front suspension, hence the mounted subframe. Everything was ready except for the tie rods and wishbones. Those need some work.
Hole
No hole
The difference is that the old ones have a hole for a split pin. The new ones have a locking nut with nylon, but that is not how it should be. A crownnut is much nicer, so I drilled holes.
Before fitting parts, I look at the BMW ETK and the service manual. I saw that the bushing for the stabilizer is the wrong way around on the picture.
So I looked into that, because I don’t need a wrong wishbone. But in the end it turned out that the BMW picture was wrong. So I went on fitting the stuff.
After that I sorted some nitpickingdetails. These two plugs will be changed for new ones.
New piece of hose and a fresh re-zinced old clamp on the brake fluid reservoir.
Fitted the wireharnas in it’s place, wired the ground and placed the oilline for the powersteering.
