finally after three years we are seeing red but in a good way the finish straight from the gun is exceptional for an old garage Greg the painters work has been second to none and his boots are really really red lol he'll be back next week hopefully when i have her roughly panelled up to flatten and polish. here are a few pics bear in mind the old fluorescents dont give a true representation of the colour. check out the overspray while painting

quick update

have to show you guys the rimmage im really happy with them found a top guy who is not hard to pay to polish them and he painted them while he was at it the graphite was a last minute spur of the moment.

i now have the sunroof back in doors and bootlid fitted and gapped the respective wiring, mechanisms and rubbers though im going to concentrate on the suspension and subframe over the next while.

still not flattened and polished need to fit the wings and bonnet yet

forgetting about the quaife idea going to meet a guy up the country tomorrow with a small case e30 diff 3.91 ratio i think i may be able to swap the gubbins over. any thoughts?

cheers guys just trying my best with what i have

lifted my small case e36 318 is (i think) limited slip diff on saturday evening and built it in to my casing on sunday you need to buff the sides of the casing to let it roll down in it really is so little that a couple of minutes carefully with a 4 inch grinder does it. when its in so long as you change over your crown wheel everything matches up perfect. i really think it will be a good job in the car.

took the back axle and front cradle into work and one of the guys shot blasted it for me while he was blasting somethin else so it will be off to the powder coaters later in the week.

my 323i front shock inserts are buggered does anybody know where i could get a good set of bilstein or koni inserts (good second hand would be ideal) just realised that they were a little fatter than my 320 ones.

i took the camera out before i started went to turn it on and someone had swiped the batteries although im going to change the crown wheel and pinion from the standard 323i (3.45) ratio to something a little lower possibly a 316 set up i think a 3.91 ratio would be ideal (have you any thoughts) so will take a few photos for you then.

bit of an update on the motor fellas

have the whole shell waxoiled but still not flattened and polished.

have my diff nearly sorted just waiting on a couple more seals i used the 3.91 crown wheel and pinion from the e36 318is i think im happy with the backlash though im in no way an expert.

Image

all the suspension components back from powdercoating great job
heres my rear axle with new polybushes

Image

i now have some engines to play with just got them yesterday a complete 325i sport engine from an e30 and a 2.7 engine from 525e along with a 316 shell

Image

Image

everything else painted black at the minute im concentrating on brake lines fuel lines and fitting a fuel pump i've also refubed all the calipers

i'll be needing a little advice on the 2.7 setup lads if anyone has any experience of it
