First let's say a little something about the car.
Originally it was 1.8 but it was upgraded to M20B20 by previous owner.
Car was seriously neglected in past so it was in bad condition when i bought it.
This is not the first E21 in the family. My mom had 316 and two 318 E21's and that is where my love for e21 is coming from.
I drove it until registration expired and then rebuild started.
Unfortunately i can't get it back in original contidion becouse E21 parts here are pretty rare and therefore expensive.
So the goal is to get it as good as it can be with some original E21 parts, and some E30 parts.
Work is nearly finished so for now i will post everything done so far.
Here are some photos from when i bought it:

Thanks.
These are first photos from ad, they are from two years ago.
So first problems where gearbox and rear right suspension holder (not quite sure how that's called in english, place where suspensor is bolted to body of the car :) )...
It was sent to repair and those problems where fixed and car was one again in driving condition (so to say...).
Gearbox is ZF 5 speed manual sport, from E30 (so speedo is not working).
Afther that i just had to replace VW steering wheel and VW shift knob.
So that was changed. I got wooden bmw knob, and original bmw steering wheel as gifts from some users on other forum.
Here's the pics:

Before and after in the car:

Makes all the difference.

So the next problem where worn brake pads.
Wheels where taken down and brake pads where changed.

Car had, at that point disc brakes in the front and drums back.
Now that has all been taken down and ventilated discs will be installed in the front and standard discs back.

They are used and in a good condition, one just needs to be reupholstered, but i will do booth seats.

As you can see body is in a pretty sorry state.
Same can be said for interior, suspension, brakes, etc...
Basically the whole car was a wreck. I don't know who had this car before me but those kind of people that can neglect their car this much should not even be allowed to own a car.
Fortunatelly for me, a friend that is helping me with this project was a welder so he was able to get the chasy and body back in normal condition.
So we started from the front and worked our way to the back of the car.

This is the last set of photos from a week ago.
Front section and cabin is done. All of body work that is left is panel between trunk and cabin and reinforcement of rear axle holder's and to reassemble axles.
When that's done, there's preparation for painting and replacement of front windscreen. The painting of the car will be done by a professional, becouse i don't have enough expirience and appropriate place and equipment to do it right.
Here's few pics from the last week:

Exam's are over and the work continues.
This weekend we are suposed to completely finish welding and to fully assemble rear axle.
Than we only have to assemble front axle and to get it ready for painting, and the work will finally be over...

Been busy today.
Dismatled an e21 and got all the parts i needed for my build.
Aquired a windscreen, M10B16 (67Kw variant) in great condition with a 4speed gearbox, wiring and everything i need to install him in my car.
Also taken a board with RPM guage instead of a clock, and the german style central console and all upholstery in black color, plastic and rubber sleeve that goes around gearshift, and a bunch of other parts. All in all, a nice day...

Nice! But what is a german style centre console? Is that with a lot of chrome, or with cupholders that can hold 1.5 litre Beer Stein mugs?
