New Interior in E21 323i and Delighted!

For the past two years my E21 had been parked up in the garage and was probably feeling a little neglected until very recently when I decided to drop her down off the axle stands and take her to be MOTed (and a flying visit to Gaydon). Having got her MOTed and on the road again I decided to continue my search for a decent interior to replace the tatty original. Looking on Ebay I noticed what looked like a promising listing of an interior for an E21 in beige (the colour I ideally wanted) and enquired with the seller (very pleasant and helpful). The result of a trip to Peterborough to collect the interior and the few hours spent fitting the interior yesterday are imaged below. I am delighted! Please enjoy the images below...

It still saddens me that the car that gave up that interior was destroyed thanks to the UK scrappage scheme. I was a genuine, 1 owner and super low mileage 316 and probably one of (if not the) best unrestored e21 in the UK.

Glad it found a good home though.

Sad story behind it indeed, but the result is great and the interior is like new! Many happy (s)miles!

I was unaware of the origin of the interior other than that the seller said that it came out of an E21 lost to the scrappage scheme. The low mileage would explain the good order of the interior - having looked on and off for several years for an example like this. Although I have only fitted the seats as my interior was pretty good apart from the front seats.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised that the car went straight through the MOT after being in the garage for two years - almost to the day.

Thanks everone for taking a look and your various comments. Whilst looking for an interior I was trying to stay original if possible and this interior certainly ticks that box.

Hi Steve, long time no see. Cars looking lovely, interior looks amazing, better than having a retrim which can sometimes look plastiche in a classic car.

Hello Arshad76,

Yes, having the interior retrimmed was an option, but a couple of enquiries I made didn't amount to anything and I was always hoping for an original interior anyway. Hopefully, if you make it to Gaydon next year I'll see you and your E21 there. I visited this year for the first time as I had just got my car out of the garage - having been parked up for a couple of years.
