My 1981 320/6 Baur TC1

Hello, Friends!

I want to start a thread in this section about my Baur. My plans are to slowly restore it, so I will be adding pictures as I go along.

I purchased this car in 2007 in Atlanta, GA (USA). Even though I live in Puerto Rico, my daughter lives in the U.S. mainland, so I kept the car stored there to use it during my visits.

This photo was taken the day I bought it:

During the time it was there, I enjoyed the car going to various events and places.

Here I am at the Vintage at the Vineyards in North Carolina:

At the Zentrum in the BMW Manufaturing factory in Spartanburg, SC:

At the Daytona race track in Florida:

In 2011, my daughter changed jobs and had to move, so I decided to bring the car to Puerto Rico.

This picture was taken at the beach near my home in the town of Humacao, PR:

In my next post I will mention the plans I have for the car, and will post photos of its current condition to use as a baseline. All the excellent E21's on this forum will serve as inspiration for my project!

Cheers,

That's a nice one.

I believe that the weather at your place can give the Baur a very long life!

Thanks, Peter!

No snow to deal with, but living near the ocean brings salt in the air. I do keep it under cover, which should prevent it from rusting.

The salt could be a big problem indeed but the the weather gives you maximum enjoyment. A baur must be driven open......

Nice part of the world indeed, but above all a sweet, clean and original Baur. Congrats mate!

Thanks! Unfortunately, it was repainted while it lived in Germany from the original Kastanienrot to Alpineweiss. Although they did a fairly decent job, I plan to bring it back to K-Rot if the budget allows.

Even better! And get rid of those reflectors on the sides as well!

Yes, those will be the first to go! It also has some ugly rusty bars of metal behind the bumpers as part of the U.S. Federalization requirements.

Another thing they did when it was imported was to change the gauge cluster for one from a U.S. version 4 cylinder 320i. I want to find the correct Euro cluster to install it in the future.

Even though André Citroen was Dutch originally, that badge must go! Stick something worshipping the country that brought and still brings us the most terrible automotive creatures in da world is bad already. But you gotta be retarded sticking it on a BMW!

It was gone the same day I bought the car

I replaced it temporarily with an early 320i to cover the part where the paint peeled off when I yanked out the Citroen badge, but I have a brand new "320" badge stashed away to install it on the trunk lid when I get the car repainted.

Nice car, very pretty Baur. And there's no better color than Kastanienrot for an E21 :loll 8)
