Hi, I registered on this forum some time ago, but never post some pictures of my car.

I have this 316 from 2001, so have been with me 12 years

Looks very clean. It is exact the same colour as my first E21 320 which I had in 1996. As I remember the colour is "Zupressen Grun Metallic"?

A wonderful looking car! The E21 is one of those cars that looks incredible when they're as tidy as this one but awful when they're tatty. I think it must be a sign that they're hovering on the brink of true classic status and in another ten years they'll all look amazing irrespective of condition.

Well, I start a gearbox swap.
Choice was sport dogleg gearbox 5 speed instead of the four speed.
The gearbox has some break part on the cover, so the seller replace it with a diferrent one, so no matching numbers.

Unfortunately, gearbox has some noise.
We have to dismantle and check.
4 bearings has to be replaced. They are not cheap and hard to find.

Installation












New clutch hoses.

After some days using it, I have some impresion.

- has more response.
- accelerate more quickly.
- you have to change more frequently the speed.
- consumption has increased a little.
- engine do not loose rev when you change between speed
- invite you to press the pedal

It is a expensive modification.
On daily use, it has no benefits. When you use it sportly, it make you so happy.

If anyone has a 316 (1,6) and want this upgrade, should think on a engine swap.
Performance will be better with a 4 cylinder 2.0 liters with 4 speed.
