Just spotted the knowledge you guys have on Stereo Inspiration in DC car mode

Thought I would share my (house) stereo queries with (shades of the Mechanic here)

I am into old school serious stereo

Yamaha 2020 Stereo receiver 250 w RMS per ch - with Wharfedale Mach 9 250 w RMS speakers

My Yamaha - which I have owned from new since 1979- (sound familiar?)

Is now misbehaving
last time it did this I sent it to Sontec in Norwich- they did a good job
before I send it back are there other solutions...............?

when you say misbehaving what do you mean exactly?

starts off ok and then makes a noise like snow!

open the case and see if you have got any capacitors that have "dome-d"

will do!

Would be my first guess as well, large capacitors from the power amp section gone
