The past 2 days one of my websites has been attacked in order to get control over the website. My hosting firm blocked things but noticed abt 30.000 logon attempts and this may happen to more websites.

Hints:
- make sure your Wordpress is up to date, these days that can be done fully automatically
- move the login page to a different place so it cannot be found on the regular location. There is a simple and handy Add-on tool for that called "rename wp-login.php"

My tech guys at CCCUK forum said:

"Good spot and luckily, we are running php bb forums, so not wordpress I have installed a layer of protection about 1.5 years ago, that helps prevent the multiple log ins etc that the site in the link was saying about. It blocks access to the site completely if it suspects suspicious activity such as multiple log in attempts. It's also the reason we are seeing no spammers join any longer "

Now this is gobbledegoock to me a mere IT mortal! I have been in business a fair while now and whenever I am faced with a wall of IT speak that is indecipherable to non IT people I ask the following question:
" Do you drive a car?"

" Yes of course!" Answers the IT specialist

" Well then do you know the difference between a camshaft and a crankshaft"

" Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

"Thing is you don't need to know to be able to drive !"

Haha! Well I combine things usually. The regular websites including that of www.bmwe21.net are made in Wordpress as that is real easy to build and maintain. The forum is phpbb as this is by far the largest and a very safe environment.
