Correct me if I'm wrong but I couldn't find any recent posts on the project so I decided to start a new one: what paint color for Arshad's E3, now Chamonix if I'm not mistaken?
Somehow I always loved blue on these cars, making them look even more stylish than they already are. At first I thought the Fjord light blue but that does better on an E9, so a slightly darker blue then perhaps?
Believe this is Atlantik or Atlantic, makes it look like a stunning Italian classic straight from the movies
And Riviera is somewhere in between? Any other metallic blues available? Arktis perhaps?

hours have been spent by myself and Arshad, debating colours. He has a very particular palette! he wants a modern feel, doesn't want a colour that will go out of fashion, would prefer a bmw colour, cannot have champagne quartz.
Moonstone is a really awesome colour, I saw a 5 series in that colour and I was blown away.
Cheers Jeroen for starting this and thanks Nas, quite like the colours and even the Audi colours got something about it. So,where my head is at is, that I hope to,drive the E3 for ever and ever. It's a design from the late 60's to early 70's and this is one of the reasons I love it.
That said I want to give it a few modern touches and this will extend to the colour. As I've said before, I'm weary of choosing a colour that's too seasonal. Something like BMW "Frozen Grey" may look fine for now, but will probably look tacky in a few years.
So I guess the brief is modern, but evergreen if possible, which rules out colours like Sepang Bronze, which are gorgeous, but in danger of dating badly.
I find black would show little imagination on this car or show the lines that well. So as a compromise I'm still very much about having a sophisticated business-like look and a nice grey or silver would be a great compromise. Ideally a BMW colour so I keep it within the same company and even with a certain pizazz like the colour Nas has chosen for his own E21. I like the blue Jeroen, but I'm sill feeling grey more. Moonstone could be in the running for sure.
I'll post a pic up soon and yes currently it's white Jeroen. Nice, but I'm going to take the opportunity to give it some more sophistication
How about Avusblau? Great colour, around since some 20 years, started as a Mcolour.

What colour was that scrapper we took bits from, that would be a great colour. Was a bit darker than saphirblau I think...

Thanks Jason for that chart, very handy, carbon black looks hot TC. I liked the colour of that one we scrapped Dr Jim, but I'm looking to modernise it at the same time and change the interior. Had I bought the E3 in that colour, I would have probably thought about a good quality respray in that colour.
So I doubt we'll be able to solve the problems of the Middle East in my lifetime, but another miracle is I've managed to choose a colour that I'm happy with! It's an M5 colour called Singapore Grey. There are snazzier colours out there without a doubt, but I'm looking for something honest, strong and classy and will last the tests of time (a bit like me) and I think this fits the bill perfectly. It's a dark grey - almost black from some angles and one I'd class as an evergreen. What do you guys think?
last one down here, rest of the colours as a comparison
Individual shots mmmm!

Don't you mean one up from last?
The individual shots look awesome. That's the colour it reminds me of a modern slightly darker Macau blue. I'll get mal to make a couple of paint cards so you can look at the colour in various lights / parts of the day

I think it's the last one on the first image, but those seem like they've been manipulated. Out in the wild it looks different. Another shot of Singapore grey and I like it more all the time.

If it's grey you like then what about the original E3 shade which is anthracite grey metallic? I'll try and find a link but it looks epic, and by the sounds of what you like, it might be just the ticket. Also, Baikal blue looks utterly amazing on an E3. Ordinarily I'd say Taiga green is the best colour for an E3 but it only really works on the later cars (ie facelift onwards)....
