So I've taken the plunge and bought this gem. It had it's MOT to pass, was idling really rough and cutting out and so I had the pesky carburettor serviced. It made the 40 mile journey from buying it to the garage quite an adventure. Stalling at junctions and rolling onto roundabouts :D

However I drove it back from the garage in Norfolk to London today, was a blast.

Hennarot red
Facelift - with stripes ( missing them on the bonnet due to replacement sadly, I may make some up myself )
The twin headlights have obviously been added at a later date
Nice boot lip/spoiler

I've got a 32/34 DMTL Weber to fit in the boot, any advice / youtube videos here would be appreciated

Couple of bits i'm after:
– a glove box lock mechanism
– possibly left door trim handle ( trying a DIY fix on this )
– Garage says the wax stat for cold start needs replacing?? ( don't know what this is as of yet )

Will keep you posted

best,
Andrew

Nice. Same as mine!

Might be something to do with your current carb. Shouldn't need this once you've switched to the Weber. I've done a write up on tuning/timing after weber in the tech FAQ section.

Right a long over due update.

Ive had numerous fuel lines replaced and got my Webber fitted. This made a world of difference in reliability and performance

Fixed the small minor cosmetic niggles, such as inside door handle, glove box lock. Here are some photos of how it currently stands

Also another gem is the radio replacement I managed to source. A period Blaupunkt Melbourne SQR26. I think it came out of a top of the range Merc from the 80's. It sounds great and the illuminated front is very period

I'm in the process of sourcing some 15" wheels. I also want to lower the car slightly, it's jacked up like a monster truck at the moment :D

Im also after a custom / aftermarket exhuast, mine is on the way out. Do you have any recommendations or know of garages in London ( east / essex ) whom could fabricate me a custom one?

Sounds like you're one happy camper then, and the car looks lovely! Did the drivers seat get fresh cloth btw?

Finally got round to fitting the Oz Turbos, I'm very happy with the look. Don't think there is anyone else running these.
I lowered the car 35mm all round on Bilstein B4's with H&R lowering springs. Oz Spec's are 15 x 7.5j - 7et, and tyre size 195 x 50 x 15. There is a tiny bit of stretch, but have no fowling or rub.

@Jeroen - Sorry missed your comment, I think the cloth has been replaced once upon a time... both seats need some attention as the foam is perishing, and the cloth is ripped.

The wheels look good, I've always wondered what these would look like on an E21!
