Not humble at all, I believe this e12 section is created because of the e12 I bought last week. With that comes the responsibility to show it here. But after seeing all those beauties here, I’m somewhat reluctant. Why? Well…

After gaining my e21 323i, my e30 325iA cabriolet, my e28 525e, my e21 318A, I had a burning desire for an e12. It had to be an 528i or M535i, but the last one is much more expensive. Last fall I almost bought an 528i of an dude from Belgium. That was a French car, 4 rotten doors, but nice. We couldn’t make the deal.

Last week there was an Saphirblue 528i on a local tradingsite, all rust, but original Dutch first delivery. But I didn’t have the time, so I didn’t bother. Last Tuesday, believe it or not, there was an ’80 528i, same colour, same first Dutch delivery (over here cars have their own plates, only usable on that chassisnumber. So original makes the slightly more worth). But it is a strange car. Resprayed in a bad way, windows taped in, packed with loose parts.

Our great forummember Ite, Baur323, collected it for me. I picked it up last Saturday. Well, I dropped in my garage, still not sure what to do with it. But I’m happy with it!!

Data: Build june 1980, original Dutch plates, 136k km on the clock, not unlikely to be original, M30 2.8 injectionblock, eco 5 gearbox, saphirblue. My sixth is a five...

At Ite’s.

And home, lots of traffic jams and a shitload of rain, but we made it!

Off the trailer, straight indoors.

Anyone seen a rearlight?

And the street packed with BMW…

I guess one of the most desirable versions of the E12, and with the right options. Hope it doesn't need that much bodywork... then it may be on the road well before the E21! Enjoy!

Whole trunkfloor is rotten or gone. Rear wheelhouses are made out of see thru metal... So it's not gonna be a quicky..

And that's what it's gonna be. A Project. At first glance I thought it to be a quick runner, just mount al the parts and drive away for a couple of years. But as it turns out, the bootfloor is fairly rotten away, the rear wheelhouses need welding and some parts like the rear bumper are just missing. A strange thing is that the rear seat misses, but the rear backrest is present. So I started to buy some parts. Bought a NOS bootfloor, at least the part with the sparewheelcompartiment. One of my yellow(!) headlights has a cracked glass, so I got me a set of lenses from France, where they don't cost much. For a big haul of parts I arranged something else, but that 's for later.

Oh, and I sold the e28 interior that was fitted. The black leather interior with original e12 Scheel sportseats will be fitted again, after some upholstery repairs on te seats and the purchase of a new rearseat and re-upholstery in black leather aswell. It's gonna be nice!! But before the big works start, I need to get my 323i a lot further. So this e12 is not gonna be a project for the next 2 years. (I want to, very badly... looks to me like a lot of fun to start working on this great car!!)

I don't think they are original, but they are Scheel seats fitted to e12. Must have cost a fortune, back in the day.

Does anything happen with this great blue 528i? No. Every now and the I buy some parts that I run ito.

And I collected this donorcar. Unmistakenly dead, but still there is some good bodypats to harvest and the occasional moulding and stuff.
