Hi everyone,

Today I picked up my new 1981 316. This is the oldest car I've ever owned and purchased it unexpectedly when bidding for it online. Never though my low bid would win the auction but here I am now the proud new owner. The previous owner has done a ton of work in the past 4 months including new wings, new sills, repainted, new brake lines, braided hoses, brakes overhauled, alpina alloys freshly refurbed. Unfortunately they have had both bumpers powder coated black for reasons I'm unsure. The drivers seat cloth is beyond repair and the door card is a bit tatty other than that's it's a real solid car! I will post the few photos of the car I have at the moment.

One question I have, which may be a stupid question, does it take unleaded fuel or will I need to put in a special additive?

Hope to be posting more on here as the project gets underway

Cheers

Gregg

I used an addative as have had issues with older cars before

Its cheaper to use addative and not need to than it is to not use it when its needed.....

Welcome! The official story according to BMW is that if its done may km's on unleaded already, there's not much chance of issues. Of course to be safe you could add some lead replacement additive every 2 or 3 fuel fills.
