E21 Back From the Paint Shop and Rebuilt!

Hi All, Having got my car back from the body shop a few weeks ago... I've just finished tip toeing around the new paint work and building it back up. I'm really happy with the result, although my good lady felt like an E21 widow for two weeks whilst I was building the car back up on evenings.

Ready to be built back up.

Very pleased with the spray job.

Chose not to refit the front badge to the grill.

One replacement rear light cluster fitted.

Decided to fit the original 13" wheels. Like the original retro look and stance.

That looks lovely Steve. It will look even more special with the Alpina 15's on

Looks really nice :thumbsup

Would of it be rude to ask how much the paint job cost? (to get an idea for my E21)

Thank you Arshad. For now I'm preferring the 13" original alloy wheels (that had been stacked in the corner of the garage for about 16 years) as I like the retro look. Although, meanwhile I intend having the 15" Alpinas refurbished ready to go back on when I have one of my moments. All the best.

Very nice looking E21 now indeed. I'm a lover of 13 inch also but maybe in the future it will become 15 inch BBS Mahle.

Thank you!

I had three quotes which varied quite widely. I also stripped the car down and delivered the car to the body shop as per the image below. This helped to reduce the cost. I would just suggest that you get a few quotes, or better still follow up a recommended body shop who can show you examples of their previous work...

I left the trim on the wings because I was having them replaced with BMW originals. I also loosened the lining from the sun roof and loosened the fixings ready for the body shop to lift it out.

Regards
Steve

Wondering if this one's back on the road yet?!

Hello Jeroen, Yes, the car was back on the road within 14 days of getting it back from the body shop last year, then I used the car regularly last year until I parked it up again in late October. It is now still in hibernation, however, it will be coming out again very shortly (may be next week) after I have fitted the six branch stainless steel exhaust manifold that I purchased recently. The E21 BMW six branch exhaust manifold and down pipes are pictured below on the kitchen floor - very soon they will replace the original cast iron manifolds. More pics posted when fitted... Excited!
