Alpina springs and camshaft????

Post by inkatouring »

Does anyone know what suspension springs and camshaft Alpina used in the e21 c1 2.3? Wondering if there is good info on this, rather than speculation. Thanks!

Originally Alpina used Ahle springs, but in the late 1970's they switched to Eibach. Not the regular Eibach E21 models but reinforced versions to better cope with the weight of the B6's M30 engine and its power. These springs are NLA for a long time already, but Eibach started production again on their stock E21 Pro Kit lowering spring set which will do just as well on a C1, the only thing is that these lower the front slightly more than the Alpina spec fronts. Or basically it is the other way round as M20 engined E21's sit relatively high at the front with Alpina spec springs fitted.

Not sure on the cams, must be specified in one of the many contemporary articles on Alpina cars in our articles section, but perhaps someone else here can help you out as well.

Thanks. I've read that they used Schrick, but I know that is not true for various 2002s, including the A4 (they used the BMW 300 degree). Not sure if they went to Schrick by the time of the c1?
