Any ideas on cause (s) and fix for the hood not latching?

Hmmmm any pictures to show how far you can go?

The hood can make contact with the front latch but not engage in locking down. I tried several attempts but hood goes down to latch only.

I adjusted the two front hood flanges (left and right). No luck.

Weird! Can you get the latch to lock if you stick a screwdriver inside? Dos the hood sit way too high? Bump stops extended too much?

From my own experience I'd suggest that you check the release cable and latch are all working properly and are lubricated.

I once had an issue with the bonnet opening while I was driving due to it not latching properly because of lack of lubrication. Luckily the design of the e21 means that it just popped up, there was no damage.

First try to latch the lock with a screwdriver or a piece of round bar.

If that works, it is the lock itselve that is sitting to low. Just undo the locking mechanism a turn or two and slide it upwards.

If that doesn't work either, than the lock is broken.
