Hi all,
I have owned my E21 323i (1981) since 2015. Since ownership it sometimes hesitates to start when warm / been running. It helps to give a little throttle to make it start.
It also cuts out on tick over when at full operating temperature when revved hard. It will start again with a little throttle.
Driving today, I came off of a dual carriageway after cruising at 70mph and as I lowered my speed the engine cut out as though I had turned off the ignition. Pulled up where safe, tuned key to off and then start and the engine started again with a little throttle. Continued the drive home for another 10 minutes and was fine. Tick over / idle is a little high, over 1000 rpm.
Any ideas?

Ignition control module?
Anyone else found this acting up / causing a loss of ignition and resolved engine / ignition dying by replacing the module?

Not thinking of a defective ignition contol module, you can't fix these by pressing the throttle

Cold start and cold idle is ok? Works well during warmup?

I am thinking of an ignition timing issue due to a vacuum leak.

Does the exhaust smell of excessive fuel after a warm restart? Thinking about a leaking fuel injector as well.

Update: Found the fuel pump relay to be faulty when tested.
Current relay fitted is 1363827.2 SHO SK6460. New BMW part number possibly 12631277245.
Will hopefully place an order for a replacement after the weekend.
