Hi all,
I’m the process of my m20b25 swap and today was the day for firing her up!!
When I turned the key it turned over (no leads attached to gain initial oil pressure)
I did this twice then on the third (still noblesse connected) go the starter will now not engage just the loud clicking which I presume is the solenoid?
The battery is new so would this be an earth problem or is the starter faulty?
Starter motor issue
Re: Starter motor issue
have you connected the large cable between the engine and the frame?

Re: Starter motor issue
Could be both a ground issue or starter motor on its way out. Sometimes it's only a case of the starter motor brushes getting worn out, hitting it with a wooden hammer may hook it up internally again, but only for the time being. If it works after a few hits then at least you know its time for a different starter or overhaul. You can check the wiring as well of course, perhaps one lead is not connected tight. Check with battery disconnected to be on the safe side. Sure the battery is not drained?

Sorted!
Took out the starter and dismantled it. The solenoid was jamming.
All re fitted and working
