Just found this forum the first of this week, I have been looking around and thought I would post up some pictures and introduce myself. We courrently have 3 E21's - 79 Euro 320/6, USA spec '80 320iS and 81 320iS we've had the 80iS since 1992 it has grown on me - I am an old 60's Chevy Man who loves the sound of a strong small block V-8. But now I'm hooked on going around corners with the rear end hanging out there.
Here are some pictures of the 320/6 as it was when I got it in a none running state - Stock carb had been replaced with a Holley 450 CFM carb but the adapter was really bad so I made a new one. Ran real good till the End of November - when the "I can make it better GRAMLIN got me".
Now the cage is gone along with the fuel tanks - fuel lines, all electrical wiring and half the exhaust.
I am working on a build web page for the 320/6 I will post the link when it is up, for those who are interested.
Here is a link to some Video's on YouTube just click the 320Racer to go to all of them Our big motor restart - Glad I found this Forum, Daryl aka "Old Man" My son Adam and I have been Auto-Xing together now for more then three years - great fun!

I have started a Build Thread on Bimmerfoums for the 320/6 Race car, we are redoing the cage, wiring, seat mount, dash, new carb and adding fuel cell. For you DIY'ers maybe some good ideas.

Been I long time since I have been here, lost track of time.....getting older
My son and I have been working on the 320/6 for two years now since it developed engine problems = lose of all oil pressure while on track at 95+mph back in November of 2011.
Anyway we have started to put it back together so thought I would post a couple of current pictures for you. Feed back welcome. Motor is now a 2.5lt M20 with E30is head ported and polished, 288 cam, Custom CP 10.5 to 1 racing pistons and Holley 390cfm HP carburetor.

Daryl,
Interesting topic for a couple of reasons! I never saw it but was traveling when you put up your initial post, thanks to your update there's some attention now!
The fact that the thread is posted on the Dutch language forum may be of influence, I'll move the entire thread to the English forum as well, will post the direct link later. Edit: just saw your PM requesting to do so as well.
Anyway, nice car, 320/6 over there is something rare I guess! So you ran her without oil to have an excuse to fit it's 2.5 litre brother? Must be lots more fun!
Any detailed plans, issues? When are you planning to have the car ready for the track again? Looks like a serious build and the cage too!

Hi Jeroen
First thank you for moving it again sorry for the incorrect first posting.
Not sure what happened with the oil pressure loss I think one of the hexes on the drive shaft for the distributor to the oil pump shirred off. I had been out on track for two sessions when it happened. Adam and I are hoping to have it started up again mid March...lots to do!
Looking forward to
The cage / chassis? I went a lot over board it is a 14 point cage basically we build a tube chassis inside the uni-body structure of the E21.

Working on prepping the body shell for paint, we're at the point where I need to lesson to my son Adam "it's a track car - let's paint it so we can drive it!"
This is where it is as of today

Jeroen I really hope things start to move quickly once it is painted I want to drive it!
Nas it is originally a 320-6 we have built a new 2.5 10.5 to 1 M20B25 motor to put in it. I will keep the original 2.0 M20 as a back up motor.
I have videos of the motor and car on you-tube from 7 to 4 years ago - you may have all ready seen them. When we get it up running again I will do a couple of new videos.

Been doing some color sanding, buffing and polishing. Done with the roof along with the A & C pillars so I could install the rear window and rear quarter windows, still have a lot to do. Wish the DIY painter had done a better job of laying the paint on...
