I'm buying an obc to fit in my 320is...
...it's good looking and can be useful but...
do you know if it's a plug and play item or it needs special plugs and connections?
obc is from e30 325
thanks

It's almost plug and play... you have to change the code plug in the rear of the OBC unit if you have the large unit with fuel consumption and all. In that way the OBC knows you're running a S14 with a different gearbox and diff! That plug is still available from the dealer.
Consists of: control unit, OBC dash unit (the one with the buttons), cables between OBC and control unit and between OBC and instrument cluster, gong and cable, outside temp sensor and optional the lever on the steering column and cruise control unit.
If you're talking about the small OBC... that's just clock, date and outside temp, no code plug required.

Hope I didn't forget anything!

Yeah ok I believe it's called the OBC II, the large unit. As you can see in my previous post you need quite a bit of additional stuff otherwise it won't work.
BTW there are several different versions... I wouldn't go for the US Miles/MPG version but for a Euro metric unit.

Jeroen thanks for the fast and accurate reply.
I hope there is a way to change mph in kmh ang mpg in km/l
Do you think all the stuff is expensive?
Worth the money?
We can buy Greddy full auto timer for 55€ on ebay

No idea if you can switch from miles to kms!
Complete sets go for abt 100-150 Euro I believe.

And worth the money... I would only have it for the looks as I won't even be interested in the fuel consumption of my 320iS. Fuel consumption is quite good actually but I have that machine to go fast no matter the fuel economy. So I guess I just won't use functions like that... the only thing I really appreciate is a ice-warning and that's just what my OBC I provides... so an OBC II isn't worth anything to me...

Infact it's especially for the look that i intended to buy the obd2...i've found it on ebay at about 5€ so...
...but i was thinking to buy a greddy full auto meter...
with this you can also check your instant and max speed and the acceleration 0-100kmh 0-200kmh 0-400m

No pic here at the moment. It is a small unit that plugs into the back of the dash unit of the OBC.

That's the one!
The one you have (1 376 032) is for E30 320i/323i... that won't work properly.
You need the 1 385 936 (320iS) and maybe the one from the stock Euro M3 will work as well: 1 380 891.
Please note that a new one costs € 32,50 at the dealer. Finding one used might be difficult...

Code plug from the E30 M3 won't work properly as it 's fuel tank capacity is dífferent. That will definately affect the range reading and probably the fuel consumption numbers also as calculating it using only injector opening time is not accurate enough to be useful.
