Indeed, that is an engine damper for M10 egnines in an e21. And if you don't have it on your car, I would say to mount it. There are two types, by the way. The Walloth link that you profided gives BMW number 11811245574. At bmwfans.info you can find out if its belongs fo your car.

Thanks for the replies
What is it that it does? I mean, I generally understand the meaning of vibration dampening but can anyone that had mounted it describe the difference with and without it?
Also, I guess I have the early one, but I saw that I do not have any other part needed in order to mount it (brackets rubbers etc) so I will have to order these - and then wait as most are not available at the moment, at least at W+N. However, as my M10 engine is a custom built one, probably by earlier than E21 era block etc, I guess most components are from 2002ti (?), I can't be totally sure that even the early set will fit

Anyone any idea of what to do with that speaker hole on top of the dash?
I mean, this is useless to most of us, isn't it? I was thinking whether there is a way to take advantage of that space in some way - especially when the point is not needed for additional gauges (I have that digital system at the bottom of the console, under the ashtray)

Car received its yearly service plus some extra tlc (good wash incl engine bay)
Will take a couple of pics although my relation with photobucket is not the best possible
However, during washing probably, the sound (and heat ? ) proofing foam that used to exist on the inner side of the hood came down. Well I do not complain as this has started happening at least a couple of years ago, so now I have to put a new one there. I know I can find it from time to time at W&N or other parts sources. However, I wouldn't mind "upgrading" if anyone has anything better to propose for that area.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

I recently experienced the following problem:

Early summer, found my windscreen washer pump (car is early model) leaking. I did not care so much as I knew I had stocked two new ones. So I plugged in one of them. After a couple of months I found the new one leaking as well. When I tried to plug in the second, I found out it was from some other model although I had ordered it under the same code. It is almost identical, and working fine, except from the metal base that "plugs" on the car's washing fluid can which is different. So I had to custom change its metal base in order to make it fit. All is ok now.

However, in the meantime, I kept checking at W&N website, and they don't have it. They only have the late model ones, which will also need (another) customization in order to fit.
Also did a few calls at parts stockers here in Athens, where I was told that this part is discontinued... Does anyone have a clue ?
