Glad to hear your on the mend.
So a few cars have come and the black 1 is gone.
So i guess the beige 1 must be a 316 as i dont think they came as a 323.
Any pics. Is the black 1 gone to a fellow member .

Re: Mark's black 320/6
Much as it pains me to accept it, unfortunately the original MIB is just too far gone to warrant being restored. If I had a bottomless pit full of cash things might be different, but I don't. The shell really needs dipping and e-coating but that will cost me nearly £2k alone. Then there are 2 new wings, a new door and complete sunroof. Then it would be another £2k+ in paint etc etc. Sadly it's just way too much.
So, the solution has finally been found in the shape of an incredibly straight and solid 316. It's a base model car with no sunroof and just 74k miles under its belt. We had it up on the ramp today and it really is one of the most solid e21 shells I have seen, thanks to having been waxoyled when new.
Old MIB is still a treasure trove of choice parts though so hopefully it won't be too long till I'm back in an orange e21 again. This time round though, I plan to fit an s50 like the one in the e30. Anyway, the Pristine Bodyworks will be making a start on the shell in a couple of weeks.
This is the 316 that's going to be the base for the replacement MIB.

Even the toolkit is complete and free from corrosion and the ash trays are shiny as its never been smoked in!

We managed to transport the 316 via the M25 to Essex. It's not the only way though!
On route the bloody trailer lights blew though, so we pulled into Clacket Lane services and had a go at repairing the broken wires. We tried and failed. Fortunately the lights on the 316 worked and the battery lasted long enough to allow people to see there was actually a trailer there, despite the bloody rain!

Seeing MIB sat there is more than a little bit depressing to be honest. I know it's going to donate a huge number of parts but so much time and effort went into that little orange BMW. I also covered well over 30k miles in it and have owned it longer than any other car I've ever had.
Anyway, next weekend it's out with the detergent and hot power washer. I want to clear away as much of the crap and soot as I can before getting stuck in and pulling MIB to bits. I imagine it's going to be a grotty job.

Once the biege car's been painted we're dropping this in there.

looks to be a nice base car.

Re: Mark's black 320/6
the s50 swap will be a simple affair with the parts off the m52 you have.
good luck man - hopefully you will rekindle some of the motivation!
