What do you use to cut small bits out?

I use a combination of 4" grinder with 1mm cut discs, 80-120 flap discs, std grind discs, and a high speed air powered grinder with tungsten carbide bullnose tips for the difficult to get too bits.

Managed to get the rear castle nuts off tonight, bloody tight, needed a 6foot box section and a large 1 7/16" spanner.
just to do the drive shaft bolts and its all loose ready for cleanup.
got some of the front stuff blasted today, just the bush's to push out front bar to blast then paint.

looking at getting the rear ARB and camber castor parts soon.
measured the front ARB I have, its 22mm is this the 323 one?? looking at the 13.5mm rear ARB or should i go for the 14.5mm?

A friend had these adapters made up for his 328i sport LSD build up, The splines locate fine just a bit long but do the job.

pre-load/slip/breakaway torque what ever you want to call it measured at 48Nm so happy with that, and back lash was around 0.004" so just goin to paint, fresh oil and bung it in for now.

Pushed out some of the bushes cleaned then the first coat of 2K epoxy primer made today, this is the good stuff with lead in it. Just one coat then baked at 60C for 1Hr.
A friend did the honours with the paint as I was busy getting it all ready.






can always adapt and re-paint the front subframe if changes are need for the engine.
will paint another few coats then laquer to get a good shine.

I had to for my own sanity , really needed some bits I could see a drastic change keep the motivation going.
Started looking for more bits now, got my basket full at Strong flex ready to order when the budget allows. Keeping an eye out on Fleabay for a bargains as well, coilovers an the likes.

Started putting the 2nd diff mount on

Just positioned it symetrical to the other side of the diff, think it worked out to around 26cm center to center, but time will tell if thats right.

trimmed off the extra metal

burned out the mounting rubbers

ground down the welds the other side then started whacking out some low areas with the dolly and hammer



punched some holes

test fit

screwed into place to allow for adjustment

Top of back panel tacked in place and boot lid tried for alignment




looks not far off
More screws, the panel was a bit deformed trying to get the old boot floor out so took a bit of clamping & hammering to get it straight and tight to the new panel

Always better to have a pair of hangers.

Nothing, the shell roll's up nicely on to the sill, nothing else touches the floor. all is fine.
