A few numbers along from the E21 though... just picked up an E38. Great big car but still got the same styling cues as the old 3ers, beautiful.

Congrats, I love the design of the E38 which really makes its contemporary S class look like a cathedral. BTW why are they calling it a cathedral, that would be too much honor. Let's stick with barn ey?

Only the second model up from the bottom- 3.5 
But at least it's a V8 (I'm selling the Chevy truck I bought to replace the E21, if anyone can remember that far back). 2001 model so it's the latest version of the engine, twin VANOS, and quick enough for me. Sport pack too, so lower suspension, big wheels, and dechrome.
I'll confess to being a Mercedes fan too, I have a '89 190E that I'm putting 500 miles a week on with no problems. Much prefer the E38 over the S equivalent though, that thing is UGLY!
