Re: Portuguese Green 316
Hey
It is indeed the one from Ourém.
Lovely colour on yours, and it seems well kept. Nice that you have to original tool box, mine didn't came with it.
11.8L/100Km is really good for an LPG E21, mine is doing 15 and is not an LPG one. It's probably lacking a tune-up to the carbs and replacement of some old worn out parts.
No idea about the dash. I really dislike seeing big slabs of plastic on cars, so leather might be a good option, but I don't know if it would look good, nor do I have any idea about cost or complexity of doing such job.

Re: Portuguese Green 316
Yes indeed, I'm thinking on sourcing a later spec M10 with the higher compression/better head and perhaps a 5spd overdrive with an LSD, still with a single carb though as I want it to pass on the IPO (MOT in Portugal) and they are really unpredictable and might notice something like a 6 cilinder or another thing and fail the car.
I'll do something abouth the brakes aswell
Bit underpowered and undergeared but in the slow stuff is brilliant, woudn't trade it for a newer one

Hi mates, just one question: Will the phase 1 E21 dash fit into the phase two without modiifcations? Are there any diferences between the both? Just found one with no cracks

Don't know if the dashboards are interchangeable, can imagine you will have some issues with the heater controls. As an alternative you can have your current dash repaired, that service is offered everywhere these days.

Thanks Jeroen!
Anyway, yesterday I came back to Portugal again in my green shark and we had no problems whatsoever... 1600km in a row and a lot of LPG of course
I changed my mind about the M10 and will probably go the M20b25 route with motronic and LPG. Will do the brakes first though

Re: Portuguese Green 316
aaaaaand so it begins

already bought the last year production of the m20b25 with all the wiring, an m20 5spd overdrive gearbox from an e21, front calipers from the 323i, new disks and more bits and stuff.
wasn't able to source a 6cyl subframe, so the original one is going to be modified.
the final objective is to have a GT car to go on a really long European tour next year

Nice progress! Not able to lay your hands on a 6 cyl subframe? Want me to try some of the Dutch E21 wreckers? Keep us posted on the European tour, we'd be happy to have you over even for just one day!

Re: Portuguese Green 316
Sure I will go across the Netherlands, besides beeing kind of a huge sanctuary to the E21 and other old cars, I've worked there as a welder in the Rotterdam area and made some contacts along the way so perhaps I will stay for a couple of weeks working for Mourik, I bet they still remember me
Well we found one but it was pretty rotten, and as this one is in good condition, we will strenghten it and change it to a 6cyl... how hard can it be?

Re: Portuguese Green 316
Well, the engine is receiving a lot of care with new gaskets and o-rings and stuff to make it as reliable as possible. Won't take the head off unless it is strictly necessary though but it looks really good inside
The subframe is ready and painted and the engine aligns perfectly with it. It's all painted and clean and it is making me very happy. Will ditch the LPG system for now as it is a simple system to run with a carburettor and not so simple if I'm going to run 6 injectors and the LPG mechanic wants a thousand more euros to do it and i figured that with that money for now i could get a rear axle with disks and a locker diff and that's what I did yesterday
I want the whole car to be as original as possible, do you guys think i would lose a lot if I used the 320/6 full exhaust? I'm looking for a mile-eater, not a race car so, wouldn't mind a bit more noise but too much would be tiresome in long journeys.
Still have no idea about what to do with my cracked dash
Pics soon!
