bmw e12 headlining retrim, YOUR ideas please.
I was going to vynle dye the headlining to freshen it up. But now thinking I may retrim in something else instead.
I have always loved the stance works cars and at some point may do a sticker bomb on the front wing.
but what about the headlining?.....
suede.... pattern......colours to contrast the green? Or compliment.
your opinion/ ideas will be appreciated.
Thanks.

I was looking at the alcantara, faux suede stuff, but was not sure on colour, black would probably match the rest of the interior best, as long as its uv protected it wont go purple.
but i chickened out.
the sticker sheeting is cheap on ebay so might give it a bash on the odd part, plus will act as a bit of stone chip protection.
quite like this e28. clean but just one wing, but without the paint removal.

Not quite, my original plan before getting painted was to laminate one wing with period german news paper from the date the car was made, then laquer over it.nas80 wrote:sticker bomb. that has to be a joke right.

People in vags were doing this since a couple of years ago dude. it's what we call "scene mods" next you'll have a rusty bonnet, Matt black paint, craps wheels with far too much stretch, a rediculously long gear stick and some little stuffed toy hanging off the towing eye

What is the rest of the colour combination? Bodywork, seats etc?
A friend did his hardtop in Dove grey alcantara and that looks really nice, along with Dove grey leather and calypso red paint.

Indeed, Grey alcantara would be nice.
like this guy did :http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt ... er-project
[edit:]
But now i've seen your interior in the 'E12 tidy up' tread, and grey won't match the green at all, black may-be ?
are there plans with the interior? if not the only option would be a cream white vinyl like stock, or cream alcantara
check these colours http://www.alcantara.com/cms-web/upl/en ... rmonia.pdf , P301 could be a match

Re: bmw e12 headlining retrim, YOUR ideas please.
Not really planning to change the interior at all, it just the headlining is stained from inside out on the rear c pillars. Iso alchohol didnt even touch it, nor did solvent gun wash, have some sugar soap to try but i dont think it will work.
Its as if the colour of the foam or glue underside has leaked through.
I think cream or black might be best options, but was unsure if black would be a bit to dark.
Thanks

If its the glue you could try evostic glue cleaner, from travis or most builders merchants, also white spirit is excellent, just don't go too mad as it will soften the rest of the glue, cheers Gra
